Priyamani was born on June 4, 1984, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. She holds Indian nationality and belongs to a Tamil Brahmin family with roots in Karnataka. She is fluent in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and English, enabling her to work successfully across multiple Indian film industries. She is the daughter of Vasudev Mani Iyer and Latha Mani Iyer. Priyamani completed her schooling at Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College in Bengaluru before pursuing higher education while simultaneously building her acting career. From an early age, she displayed an interest in modelling and performing arts, eventually entering the entertainment industry. Priyamani made her acting debut with the Telugu film Evare Atagaadu (2003) before appearing in the Tamil film Kangalal Kaidhu Sei (2004). Her breakthrough came with the Tamil film Paruthiveeran (2007), directed by Ameer, where her powerful portrayal of Muththazhagu earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress along with several state and Filmfare awards.
