Taapsee Pannu was born on August 1, 1987, in New Delhi, India. She holds Indian nationality and belongs to the Punjabi ethnic community. She is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, English, and has also learned Telugu and Tamil through her acting career. Taapsee is the daughter of Dilmohan Singh Pannu, a real estate businessman, and Nirmaljeet Pannu. She has a younger sister, Shagun Pannu. She completed her schooling at Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi, before earning a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science Engineering from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, New Delhi. Before entering the entertainment industry, she worked briefly as a software engineer and later pursued modelling, participating in several beauty pageants.
