Navayuga Kugarajah is a Sri Lankan filmmaker and actress who was born on September 16 in Jaffna, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. She holds Sri Lankan nationality and belongs to the Tamil ethnic community. Growing up in Jaffna, she developed an early interest in storytelling, literature, and visual arts, which later shaped her path in filmmaking and acting. Tamil is her primary language and she is also fluent in English through her academic and professional pursuits. Navayuga studied at Vavuniya National College of Education and later continued her higher studies at Madurai Kamaraj University. She also completed specialized training in Transmedia Storytelling at the University of Sydney and attended the Film and TV Industry Essentials program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She currently resides in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
