Lochana Jayakodi, whose full name is Jayakodi Arachchilage Lochana Hansamali Jayakodi, is a Sri Lankan entertainer born on 24 September 1994 in Piliyandala, Colombo, Sri Lanka. She grew up as the eldest of three sisters and attended Piliyandala Junior School, Dharmasena Attigala Girls School and Buddhist Girls College, Mount Lavinia. Her public career identity is closely associated with Sri Lankan Sinhala entertainment, while Sinhala and English are commonly used in her professional environment. She is widely known online as Lochi. Her Instagram account, @lochana_jaya, has over 500K+ followers, while her TikTok account has over 1.5 million followers and more than 30 million likes. Her YouTube presence has also grown substantially, with her channel passing 1.6 million subscribers by January 2025.
Lochi began developing her public career through dance and digital content, starting her social-media journey in 2016 and gaining attention through dance, comedy and lip-sync videos. Her early viral success included a Bollywood dance performance, after which she expanded her content into comedy and other short-form formats. She entered YouTube in August 2018 and produced comedy videos with Kelum Devanarayana. Her television work includes presenting the youth program Y-cafe on Sirasa TV and appearing in commercials for brands including Signal, Lemon Puff, Ritzbury Bubbles, Munchee and People’s Bank. Her mother, Indrani Arugamage, died in 2014 from a lung infection, while her father, Kapila Susira Kumara, has been identified as a male nurse at Apeksha Cancer Hospital in Maharagama. Her sisters are Dhanushika Madhushani and Rumesha Ushani, with Rumesha also appearing alongside her in some of her creative productions.
